Two Sick Ones at Home

Posted by Chris

Well, it's official - Emerie has caught her first cold. She's been kind of sniffly since the weekend, but began to run a slight fever Tuesday. Micah, at the same time, started feeling bad and running a fever as well. We scheduled a doctor's appointment for them yesterday. Turns out that Micah has an ear infection and Emerie has a slight cold. They're both doing well. Micah already sounds/looks a little better this morning. I can still hear Emerie sniffling in the bedroom, though. More than anything it has been more difficult on Andrea as Emerie hasn't felt like lying down as much and wants to be held. She finally went down in her crib yesterday afternoon and I think she slept pretty well last night. One last note - Emerie weighed about 10 lbs. at the doctor's office.

Memorial Day Outing

Posted by Chris

Well, I had planned on posting some pics and another entry earlier this week, but things just got away from me. It's amazing how behind you can get just by missing one work day. We had a great weekend, including Memorial Day, but it has been extremely busy in the last few days.

Emerie’s Baby Shower

Posted by Chris

Emerie had her baby shower yesterday at First Southern hosted by Cheryl Jenkins, Lexie Joseph & Heather Heslip. It was a great afternoon. Josiah & Micah even got into the action - helping deliver gifts to Andrea, passing out gifts for everyone to see, and even opening a couple of gifts of their own! We were surprised by how many people came out, with it being Memorial Day weekend. Check out the "Baby Shower" album [not currently active] in our gallery for pictures from the shower.

Si’s First T-Ball Game

Posted by Chris

This has been such a busy week! I told our staff earlier this week that things are already getting hectic in our schedule between preschool graduations, class picnics, and T-ball games - and that's just with a 5-year old! I can't imagine how it is for many of you who have older children who are active.

Emerie Goes to Church

Posted by Chris

Yesterday was the first day that Emerie came to church. I think it was as good for mother to be out and about as it was for our baby girl. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's just one of those moments that I don't think I'll ever forget. Andrea arrived right after we begin singing, and it was all I could do to keep from smiling so much that I couldn't sing. I managed, but I will have to admit that I didn't hear a lot of what our Rich was teaching as I caught myself staring at this little girl that I was holding in my arms.

1st Checkup

Posted by Chris

Emerie had her first check-up yesterday. She's now 9 lbs. 2 oz. and doing great. She's been going on average about 4 hours during the night between feedings. It's still amazing to me to experience all of this with a term baby. The doctor & nurses have told us from the beginning that this is "the way it is supposed to be," but it is still so foreign to us having experienced what we have with both of our pre-term boys. Thank you again for your prayers & encouragement that you have shown in the past week & even before Emerie was born.

Our Graduate

Posted by Chris

Emerie had her first outing last night. We all loaded up the van & headed out to Josiah's school, Tyro Community Christian School, for his preschool graduation ceremony. It was great! The kids all walked in to "Pomp & Circumstance," sang several songs, said their ABC's & numbers, and received diplomas and had pictures made. I've posted a few pictures in the gallery for you to see. Si has been pumped since last week and has said something about his graduation each day the past week.

A Little R & R

Posted by Chris

Our Sunday was pretty much nice & relaxing - which is what, I think, we both needed (especially Andrea). I got to nap on the couch with Emerie sleeping on my chest for a good couple of hours! It was so great!

Special Visitors

Posted by Chris

Today was a great day! I think we're still floating on cloud 9! Today we got to see Bekah & Sarah Belcher - which was a true blessing. Here, in our living room, were three individuals (including Emerie) whom we had been praying for for so long. God is so good! Bekah & Sarah came over with Kelsey & Janet Mayes to see Emerie (see pictures in the "Visitors" gallerys [not currently active]).

Other than that, the day was pretty uneventful (apart from getting stuck in the rain trying to finish mowing the front lawn!). We've posted several new images in the "Grandparents" & "Visitors" galleries [not currently active].

We’re Home!

Posted by Chris

We're home! We arrived home at 12:45 pm on Friday, May 9th - just a day and a half after Emerie was born! Again, it was amazing hearing Dr. C tell us at 8 am this morning, just 27 hours after Emerie's birth, that he would begin the paperwork for us to be able to be discharged today.

Day and Night

What a day! I'd have to say that yesterday definitely ranked as one of the best I've ever had. God couldn't be more gracious to us. Immediately after Emerie arrived we got to hold her & look at her. That was a first. With the boys there was so much concern from them being so early (Si - 34 weeks, Micah - 36 weeks) that they promptly wisked them away to monitor them. Andrea didn't even get to hold Josiah until 10 hours after he was born! I couldn't begin to compare the differences this time around because they are so numerous.

Baby Emerie Arrives!

Posted by Chris

Baby Emerie was born today at 5:01 am. This is definitely a lot different of an experience than we've ever had before. Just the fact that we made it to the same month when she was due was an accomplishment in itself! Yesterday, I think Andrea knew that things were coming soon, as she warned me several times that morning to "Be sure and have everything done & ready to go in case I call you." We wound up going to the doctor for our weekly exam at 2 pm, at which it was decided that Andrea was going to be induced that evening.
