Half a Century Mark!

Posted by Chris

Just realized my last post hit the half-century mark! WooHoo! Hmm, let's see... 50 posts averaging 0.4 blog visits per day (no, that's not an exact figure, it's just that the entirely realistic actual fraction of visitors that actually read this thing would be much to depressing to print. :-)

Dull Pain, a Weak Will & Ice Cream

Posted by Chris

I realize every once in awhile now that I really pretty much walk around in pain nowadays. Maybe even 24-7... who knows?! You know, it must be that I've built up a tolerance for pain, but it used to be I would notice when my head was hurting or my neck was cramped up. Now I only notice those things when I've had an extremely stressful day or my allergies act up majorly. I'm just walking around with my neck stiff, & my back aching some - and the sad thing is that I'm not even sure where it began or where it came from.

I'm sure it began little - possibly even almost unnoticeable. Probably began hurting slightly more as the days went by until I reach the point I am at today - walking around in pain that I don't even notice.

God Experiences

Posted by Chris

We had another great community group meeting tonight. It was probably one of the smaller groups we've had since we began having community groups in our home back in April, but it was really good. We had a nice dinner & struck up some really good spiritual conversation from the get-go even before we were finished eating (isn't dinner with friends usually like that?). Good stuff.

We're focusing on 'Stories' over the course of the next couple of months through our young adult Community Groups at GBC. We've talked about how in the sense that God's Word is a collection of divine stories about people's encounters with God & His intersection & interaction with humanity - we continue that spirit even today! To help us get to know each other better & to get to know God in a bigger way, we're telling stories on different angles with each meeting. This week's was: "Tell about a time when you experienced God in a profound way."

Communal Faith: Bible Helps

Posted by Chris

Great discussion last week on the importance of reading/discussing the Bible within community! I've added two downloads to the right sidebar to help you in your own devotional time. Both are tools to help you remember what portions of the Bible you have read so that you can, hopefully, cover new ground & even work toward reading through the Bible - not necessarily in a year, though :-).

Phew…

It's over (sort of)...

I had one heck of a week! Man, I knew it was going to be crazy coming back from being gone on vacation, like it usually is. What I didn't expect was the amount of stress that would accompany it all.

Major project was due at LifeWay on Friday (actually, 2 - although they were related). I've been working with the young adults team at LW on an upcoming website launch that is happening a few months from now. This past week was the week we brought much of the concept into reality, with me programming the pages that would be used on the site. Really fun stuff that I enjoy doing - something I am really thankful is a part of my job with LifeWay. What I didn't expect was how difficult the pages were going to wind up being. Actually, it's probably not the depth of the pages as much as the time constraints. I had from Tuesday until Friday to get it all done which is incredibly difficult.

The Monday After…

Posted by Chris

Al......most......there......

T-minus approx. 1-1.5 hours and I will have officially survived the Monday after our vacation! (loud, thunderous applause!) I think it is a major understatement to say that I was not looking forward to coming in to work today. It took me 3 hours non-stop to get through all of the emails that were awaiting my return. That, on top of the fact that I returned right smack dab into the middle of some major projects this week makes the outlook on the week less than ideal. Oh, well - like I said, I'm almost there!

Myrtle Beach was AMAZING! Just what we needed. We really never go on trips having a large itinerary already planned out. Always a few things that we think we might like to do, but we're pretty flexible. No surprise that we wound up almost everyday taking a lazy morning getting going before heading out to the beach all day. Apart from a ripe sunburn on my part, the week was great! Seeing the kids see the ocean for the first time, watching a storm blow in from the sea, playing with the kids in the ocean - everything was great! Pictures on our family Flickr site forthcoming...
