Flickr: Now Open to the Public

Posted by Chris

We began using Flickr as an online photo gallery sometime last year. Initially we had it set-up so that only authenticated 'friends' (fellow Flickr members we've approved) had access to the pics. The problem is that it made things too difficult for our friends & family to enjoy (plus we couldn't do cool things like the flash Flickr badge in the right column).

So, we've now opened it up to public access, which means you can head over to our Flickr space today & check out pictures of some of what we've been about over the last year! We still have quite a few pictures to add from the last several months, but there's probably upwards of 700+ pics there now.

Check it out by clicking on the Flickr badge to the right, or by pointing your browsers tohttp://www.flickr.com/photos/theedigers.

Looking a Little Different?

Posted by Chris

We're in the process of moving hosting providers for this & my other sites. Because of this I've had to re-install the blogging software we use & rebuild everything. Good news... something new is being posted here (I think the last post was October of last year?) and the site may finally get a needed make-over. Bad news... I've got umpteen-million things to do right now so neither of these things are going to happen quickly. Thanks for your patience!

New up/rooted MySpace

Posted by Chris

sshot_myspace.jpgWe just launched a MySpace for up/rooted over the weekend. The more I use MS the more I'm realizing why there is such an appeal for it. It's really easy to reconnect with old friends or to connect in a new way to family. It's addictive - I think I can easily waste too much time without realizing it.

What’s On Your “To Don’t” List?

LifeChurch based out of Edmond, OK and led by Craig Groeschel is perhaps one of the most influential churches in America right now. Andrea and I have been to several LifeChurch services over the years when we lived in the Kansas & Oklahoma, and we have friends who are members there.

I ran into a blog entry on LifeChurch.tv written by Groeschel that just seemed to echo in my spirit. In it he was speaking to the idea that when LifeChurch first began that he struggled with feeling like it wasn't a "real church" because they didn't have a permanent location or do anything of the 'things' other churches do - like have a VBS, church sports leagues, etc. When they got to the point of growth where they were able to they quickly added these things to their plate of offerings. The results? Not what they expected. Those results changed how they view ministry...

Nothing to Say?

Posted by Chris

Okay, on top of the self-applied guilt of not posting nearly as often as I'd like to, I look back through the last several months of posts and realize that even on those days I posted something, I really didn't have anything worthwhile to say.

Perhaps it is because I'm just coasting in so many areas of my life right now. If I'm not careful it is easy to slip into the everydayness of life itself and not move much deeper than that.

Here's a few examples...

Wii Music Bliss

Posted by Chris

sshot_finetune.jpgFound a great new site/service - FineTune. It's very similar to other sites like Yahoo! Music where you are able to compile your own 'station' or playlist of music to stream via the Internet for your listening pleasure. This ones a little different, though. First off - it's free! No subscription, free playing, etc. Plus they have a pretty large library of music to choose from. That, coupled with the social/interactive features of the site really makes it an intriguing site to check out, I think.

On top of that they have introduced media players for different situations - one came out somewhat recently to allow you to stream your playlists on your MySpace. The newest one is a Wii player! I can't wait to get home this afternoon, fire up my Wii, and start playing around streaming some great music in a really cool Wii-esque interface.

Check it out at www.finetune.com!

American Idol Prediction

A girl is going to win.

There you go - heard it hear first! Actually, if you were around anyone today who watched the first legitimate AI competition night you've probably already heard it. The guys just plain stunk! Here's to hoping the girls deliver something better tonight or AI might be in trouble. I mean - how many tens of thousands of people auditioned for the show... and these are the best 12 guys they could come up with?
