A Little R & R

Posted by Chris

Our Sunday was pretty much nice & relaxing - which is what, I think, we both needed (especially Andrea). I got to nap on the couch with Emerie sleeping on my chest for a good couple of hours! It was so great! The boys are both getting used to having a baby in the house. We are in the learning phase of teaching them to keep a lower volume level when Emerie is asleep. Right now I don't think there is much chance of them waking her up, as we have trouble waking her at times to feed her. However, it is a nice habit to get into. Josiah can't get enough of his baby sister! We took our first van ride together as a family of five to get a bit to eat after church Sunday evening. Si wanted to sit right next to his sister because, as he said - "I love her." He likes to sing "Rock a Bye, Baby" to her and have her hold his finger (you can see a picture of this in one of the photo albums - "Coming Home," I think). Micah is still warming up to her. I think it will be harder for him to make the adjustment since he no longer is the 'baby' in the house. He also doesn't have the comprehension level that Josiah does. While taking the ride in the van last night we forgot to bring Emerie's pacifier along. I think the boys rambunctious ness startled her at first, as she was awake at the time. She cried just a little bit (which is more than normal, at this point) which prompted Micah to keep calmly saying, "Stop it." We explained to him that babies don't understand the words "please stop it" and that crying is their way of talking. I don't think it sunk in, though, as he proceeded to cry in unison with her! Andrea looked at me and with a smile said, "so much for our first van ride!"

It's been good to visit with so many of you. Thank you for the cards, gifts & emails. Stop by & see us, if you haven't already.

Brooke:

Your family is picture perfect. I’m so glad everything is going well. Hey, if you ever need a babysitter, it looks like the whole church would volunteer. Congratulations, you are so blessed....Josiah and Micah, you have a beautiful baby sister. If you need anything don’t hesitate to call. Love and Kisses to you all, Brooke Austin
