Exhausted & Exhilarated

Well, I'm sitting here with messed-up sinuses and an extremely worn-out body. We've had a packed last week or two & I think it is finally catching up to us. The nose thing is my own fault for cleaning out the shed yesterday afternoon. The rest won't return to normal for another couple of weeks probably - at least until we get into our new house & begin to settle in. Unpacking boxes is sure to be more leisurely of a process than packing them has been. We've still got work to do & we're quickly running out of work days to get it done. The plan is to pick-up the moving truck on Wednesday morning and then finish packing up the last things & load the truck all day. Then we'll get up the next morning & head out.
We had a wonderful day yesterday! It was our last Sunday at First Southern & we couldn't have asked for it to turn out any better. The services in the morning were great ... it was our Graduate Recognition Sunday, so we were able to celebrate with our graduating seniors throughout the morning. The youth had gotten a cake to celebrate the graduates & Andrea & I as well. They then put us in the hot seat & gave the youth an opportunity to share fun memories from the past 6 1/2 years. We had a great time laughing as we reminisced together about some of the fun times we have shared over the years.
For the evening service the church had planned a 'farewell' time. They showed a movie of the lives of our family & the church over the time that we have been here. Andrea & our friend Cheryl sang a couple of songs together & then they opened the floor for church members to share words of appreciation. It was overwhelming! So many people sharing how much Andrea & I have affected their lives or their kid's lives in one way or another - all the while us sitting there feeling like they had done the same in our lives! They had a reception afterwards with cake, appetizers, punch, etc. We got a chance to talk with so many people we have gotten to know in our time here. We then came home & read through the many cards & looked through the photo album they gave to us. Some of the youth & other friends came by for awhile as well. All in all, it was a great day & one that we will remember for a long time. It feels so good sitting on the verge of the next step in our journey with Him, feeling the support of our church family here. We have really been cherishing our last couple of weeks here and yesterday was a nice closing to that time together.
