Feeling Guilty
Posted by Chris
Well, it's official - I have totally blown using this site as a good way to keep everyone updated on the ins and outs of the Ediger family life. I just checked the site & released that I hadn't posted anything since Halloween! Emerie has grown so much in that time! I have already made one of my New Year's resolutions - keeping this updated on a more regular basis. Having said that - I'll probably wait until the new year to begin.
I'm looking at registering a new domain name since this blog has morphed into an Ediger family site, not just about Emerie any longer. I'm thinking about theedigers.com. What do you think? Any suggestions? I'm also looking at a new blogging tool called TypePad produced by the same people who wrote Movable Type, the tool I've been using for this site all along. It looks really cool, would add a lot of features & be more user friendly for Andrea & myself. The only draw back is that it is a monthly subscription hosted tool. Right now we'd have to switch the rest of our Internet sites to TypePad as well to justify spending money on it. I'm going try it out for our youth web site & see if it will be flexible enough for what I'm wanting to do. Right now I use Movable Type for ignited4christ.com, theoverflow.com & babyemerie.com.
We just switched to great new tool for FirstSouthern.net with iChurchLink.com. It is fantastic! By far the best thing I've found for church web sites, bar none - and that's saying a lot since I've researched & tested just about everything out there! If you have any connection with a church that is looking to begin a web site, or update theirs, point them to iChurchLink.com. You can show them our web site at www.firstsouthern.net to get an idea of what they can do with it.
As far as the Ediger family goes, here's a little to get you somewhat up-to-date ...
EMERIE - Cute as ever & growing by the minute! She is 'talking' (babbling 'da-da-da-da' and 'ma-ma-ma-ma' among a few other things) and sitting up now. She is almost constantly smiling and is a very happy baby. I'm still loving having a little girl & look forward to being able to hold her & play with her when I'm at home. Can't remember if the numbers on the home page are accurate - I'll have to check with Andrea.
MICAH - Micah is doing great. He's getting ready for his first official school program this Thursday night. He's in 3-year-old preschool at Tyro Christian School for a couple of mornings out of the week. He'd go every day if they would let him! In fact, he gets upset some mornings because it's not his school day. He is tall & skinny, loves his brother & sister, and is getting to be such a big boy.
JOSIAH - Si is in Kindergarten. School work is not much of a challenge for him. He is one of the few readers in his class. Learning how to be in school, however, is what he is learning more than anything else ... following rules, being quiet, social skills, etc. It has been good for him. He had his Christmas play last week in which he wore a wrapped box & a bow on his head as a Christmas present as he sang with his class. No picking his nose this year (yes, he was the 'nose-picker' in last year's Christmas program). He is such a big help - helping take care of his little sister & helping mom.
ANDREA - Andrea is as beautiful as I have ever known her to be. It's amazing to me to think that we've been married for almost 8 1/2 years & she still makes my heart jump when I look at her! She's doing great & having as much fun with our little girl as I am. Apart from the full-time work she does taking care of the kids & the house, she still has her 11th-12th grade girls LIFE group that she meets with each week & leads a Beth Moore study with the women in our church each semester.
CHRIS - I'm doing well. Still maintaining the weight I lost throughout the late spring & summer. Probably the biggest reason that I've been writing less here is that I've been writing more elsewhere - mainly for LifeWay, although I'm trying to get some articles published elsewhere, as well. I've officially added the title 'artist' to my repertoire as of a couple of weeks ago. A website called OptiPraise is hosting some of my graphics for church use through its site. I've also been reading a lot of good books & keeping up with several of the blogs I like to read when I get a chance.
Overall our family is doing great right now. Everyone is well (cross our fingers) physically. We're looking forward to a nice Christmas next week. Andrea's mother, Nancy, is here this week and we'll see her dad, Gary as well as my dad & Cheryl, my sister, brother, & nephews over the holidays. It will be nice to have some off & spend it seeing family.
I'd like to wish all of you a merry Christmas from the Edigers! May you find a special blessing this Christmas season as you remember the Savior!
