First Day at Bridgeway

Posted by Chris

Well, today was another great day. We got up this morning & went to our new church, Bridgeway, for the first time. We were a little nervous, but equally as excited (if not more so). It felt wierd to get into the van to actually go to church as we have been walking to church for so many years! The people at Bridgeway were extremely nice. It took us a little bit of time to get all of the kids to their respective places before heading into the worship service. The first major change was that kids 5 and up stay in the worship time for the first part of the service. We really enjoyed having him in their with us as the atmosphere was very laid back. We sang, holding hands with him or with our arms around him for about 30 minutes or so. If we felt like standing, we did. If we felt like sitting, we did. We just thoroughly enjoyed worshiping with him. I also had an opportunity to pray with him during a prayer time before the kids were dismissed to go to their time. Our friend, Jeremie, taught this morning. He prefaced his time by saying that he had a good friend at the church for the first time & that since 3rd grade most anything that had happened in his life with God growing up happened with her by his side. I had helped get some graphics together to accent his teaching & he thanked me for this as well. Very special to both of us, especially for Andrea. They have known each other for a long time & she commented on how special it was to get to see him share from God's Word & teach. I enjoyed the time as well. He taught out of Hosea & talked about how when we aren't looking to God to satisfy the longings in our heart than we are being unfaithful (prostituting) in our relationship with Him. Powerful time all around.

Got the pool out when we got home & the boys spent the entire afternoon outside swimming. Tonight we all watched a cartoon together & then the boys headed for bed just a little while ago. All in all it was a good day. We have some friends, Jeff & Lexie Joseph, who are going to be in town on Tuesday night/Wednesday that we will get to see & then another set of friends, Mark & Trish Davis, who will be here later in the week. We're really looking forward to these visits & having a chance to share our new home with our friends & enjoy just being together. I have begun to understand more & more over these last several months how important community is in our relationship with God. I could got much further into that topic, but will save it for another day & another time. I'm going to wind this up, put the computer away & go watch a movie with Andrea before bed.
