Foaming at the Mouth

Posted by Chris

It's almost here... I can feel it creeping up in the bones... My heart is beginning to race a little faster... It's... It's... Time for March Madness! (and the crowd goes wild!)

I've been gearing up the past weekend for our annual March Madness pools that we host on our site MarchManiac.com. I've been listening a little more intently to the Sportcenter anchors as they discuss some of the lesser-known teams that will grace the Big Dance this year. All in all I can't wait - after all I can't do any worse than last year. I not only finished dead last and had both my 8 & 6 year old beat me soundly - I also lost to a coin flip!

Each year we have three annual 'players' in all of our pools - High Roller (he always picks all the upsets), Safe Bet (who would never pick an upset), and George Washington (we sit around & flip a coin to determine winners - heads gets the top team, tails the bottom). Yes, I lost to 'ole George. So, like I said, I can't do any worse than last year.

One must-have item to survive March Madness being halfway across the country from your favorite team (Go Jayhawks!) is March Madness On-Demand. CBS Sportsline & the NCAA teamed up for the first time last year to offer most of the first & second round games as live feeds on their website. Great for catching a full KU game when they're showing Tennessee on our tube.

This year they are implementing a 'waiting room' of sorts that you'll have to go through to get into the virtual game. I guess this is both due to having a large amount of people wanting to watch each game & also because they want to show us some ads in the waiting area & capitalize on this free service. You can get into the 'fast lane' and walk past most of those waiting in the waiting room by signing up for VIP access early. Go to the following site & sign-up for free.

Once you're signed-up, you can check out some of the best moments from March Madness history using their video player. I've been loving it - watching some of the biggest upsets/plays & getting my adrenaline flowing even more. Check it out below...
