God Confiding in Us

Posted by Chris

I was catching up this morning on some devotional emails that I get in my Inbox each day. It had been a good week since I had looked at them last. One of the devotions really hit me this morning & I wanted to share it with you ...

Get To Know God And Allow Him To Straighten And Smooth Your Paths

The shortest distance between two points is a straight line. We learned that in grade school. Did you know that God says if we know Him in all our ways, He will make our paths both straight and smooth?

You are probably familiar with Proverbs 3:6 which says, "In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths." It is more literally translated "know" Him, instead of acknowledge Him. To me, that is a big difference. Acknowledging someone strikes me as something like a polite greeting. Knowing someone requires an investment of time and involves an element of risk. The word acknowledge, translated, really means to know someone like a familiar friend.

God says if we know Him like a familiar friend, in all our ways He will shorten our journey, by making our path straight and smooth. So how, in the course of business, do we know Him? How did Abraham know God? God called Abe his friend. Abe did not even have a Bible. Abe just communed with God, especially at night by the stars. They confided in each other. Is that not what friends do? You will notice, God confided in Abraham. Begin by confiding in God and He will confide in you. In those times of confiding, our faith grows, our paths straighten and our friendship with the One who created us takes on new meaning.

Wow! "God confided in Abraham." I had never really thought of it that way before! Imagine being so intimate with our Creator that He chooses to confide in us, to let us in on His plans & what He is setting about to accomplish all around us!

I want to be there! I want to be that intimate with my Father, so that I may see what He is doing in my life & in the lives of those around me - that I may join Him & experience His life for me!
