God Experiences
Posted by Chris
We had another great community group meeting tonight. It was probably one of the smaller groups we've had since we began having community groups in our home back in April, but it was really good. We had a nice dinner & struck up some really good spiritual conversation from the get-go even before we were finished eating (isn't dinner with friends usually like that?). Good stuff.
We're focusing on 'Stories' over the course of the next couple of months through our young adult Community Groups at GBC. We've talked about how in the sense that God's Word is a collection of divine stories about people's encounters with God & His intersection & interaction with humanity - we continue that spirit even today! To help us get to know each other better & to get to know God in a bigger way, we're telling stories on different angles with each meeting. This week's was: "Tell about a time when you experienced God in a profound way." As I was thinking about times that God has shown Himself so clear & evident & powerful in my life, and as I heard everyone else share their stories I think I realized that this is something I long for, but don't get to experience very often. I desperately want to know God more than what I have experienced of Him to this point. I want to draw deep into Him & see just how awesome & powerful & mind-blowing He really is! Yet, in the everydayness of life I'd have to admit that these kinds of experiences are few & far between.
Not sure there is really a lesson here, or that anyone is really 'wrong' - just an observation that God moments like these need to be savored & sought after & cherished while they are in our midst, because you never know when you will be blessed enough to encounter God in this way again!
God - thank you for being so much bigger than anything I can comprehend! Thank you for friendships & family and friendships that have become family.
