Hooked Again

Posted by Chris

Thought I'd post a few quick lines here while Andrea makes brownies. We've been watching the season episode of 24 & are taking a mid-episode break. 24 is one of those shows that we've seen a few episodes of & liked, but never watched it regularly for some reason. I think that is going to change now! We're recording the 2-night, 4-episode season premiere for someone else & I think we're hooked!

The past week has been a good, but busy one. Josiah started school bright & early on Tuesday morning. Actually, I should probably say "dark and early" as he has to get up at 6am to catch the 6:30am bus that arrives outside our front door. He's going to Lakeview Elementary, one of the best elementary schools in the area from everyone that we've talked to. He's loving it & has already made new friends. His friend, Luke, who lives two doors down is in the same 1st grade class & at the same table - what luck! School begins at 7:15am! I think the early start has to do either with bus scheduling (to make them available to other schools) or because of the early daylight around here - or both. He's home at 2:30p which gives him a few hours of sunlight before it gets dark around 5:15p or so. We got Micah enrolled in a Christian preschool in Mt. Juliet. His first day will be this Tuesday. It also has a good reputation & we know some friends who have kids that go there. He's really excited about going back to school & meeting new friends. He met his teacher & the school principal last week when Andrea took him to be enrolled.

Emerie is as cute as ever (if not more so). I swear she's probably going to get away with murder compared to her older brothers just for the fact that she looks so darn cute - especially when she is being mischievous! She really is a good girl & doesn't get into trouble too much. Of course you have to really watch her or she'll take a crayon or pencil & draw a masterpiece on the wall (already happened in our family room when she drew a five feet across mural for us!). She is talking more & more and can communicate quite well with us.

Andrea is as beautiful as ever! She's already met several women from the area - some who work for LifeWay or have spouses who do. Right now it's still a process of unpacking (although we've gotten through most of the immediate boxes), arranging & decorating. Last week was getting the kids enrolled which took most of her time. Lots of ideas on our new home floating through her head. I think we'll likely write down a list of things we'd like to do when we have the money & time. I'm sure all of this is normal for people buying their first home - moving in one week & ready to add on the next! Ha!

I love my job. That about sums it up! I really think this is going to be the kind of job where I sit back and wonder in amazement that they are paying me to do it! I've been working non-stop the past couple of weeks at getting the new Fuge website done. It should go live this week, if all goes well. Check out the old version at www.fuge.com & then come back next week for the face lift. With that finishing I'm beginning my work on the student portal/channel at LifeWay.com. I have a prospectus on the site due at the end of the week, so this week will be pretty crazy.

We went back to Green Hills Church today & really enjoyed it. Got a chance to meet the pastor & his wife. They met at Southwest Baptist University - my alma mater! I think his wife is either from, or lived for a while, in Independence, KS. Can you believe that? What a small world! Actually we've had a few of those kind of experiences since we've been here. If my life slows down enough I'll try and post some info about them.

So much of my currently weekly post. I promise once we get settled in that I'll try and get things on here more often than once a week. For now you might want to just tune in every weekend for a recap of our life (or subscribe to the email list on the home page so you'll know when something has been added here). Also - feel free to post messages via comments to us here. You'll have to register, but it is quick & easy & you only have to do it once.

One more thing - sad my Sooners lost. Actually, I think 'lost' is a pretty mild word to use, but I can't bring myself to come up with anything else. We watch 2 1/2 quarters of the game & turned it off. At least I didn't have to be bombarded by the news like I would have being in Oklahoma. Have been able to avoid any info about the game pretty much all week as not many people really care about Oklahoma sports around here. If anything, all those Auburn fans are probably pretty happy.

On a high note - Rock Chalk Jayhawk! Got to watch the KU-Kentucky game on TV today & I liked what I saw. I actually got the kids out of bed coming down to the family room in the basement with my yelling (I didn't watch the game until tonight).

Okay, brownies are in the oven. Andrea is close to ready to watch the second half of 24 for the night, so I'd better sign off. Drop us a note & let us know how you & yours are doing when you get a chance. We miss all of you!
