Well, it's finally over. I think I've been in denial the past several days, not wanting to think about it. For the past 2 weeks we have spent most of our free time watching the Olympics, cheering on the American athletes & thoroughly enjoying it. This is definitely the best Olympics experience we have ever had - mainly because of TiVo. Last night during the closing ceremonies they kept showing highlights from the games - memorable moments from the past 16 two weeks. The cool thing is that we got to see every one of those when they happened! Yesterday was a good example ... we turned on the TiVo-ed Olympics after we had eaten lunch together. Watched some volleyball/wrestling/rhythm gymnastics. We skipped the commercials, most of the Bob Costas commentary & events we didn't care to see. Every once in awhile we'd slow down or stop to see someone do their final dive or routine & see who won medals. At one point we caught a news update about the marathon attack by a former Irish priest. We stopped, rewound the recording to the moment it happened & watched it as if we were watching it live. Then we fast-forwarded through the rest of the telecast to see the various news updates from that point forward.

I know I've said it before, but I won't go back to watching TV without a TiVo. Been there, done that - not worth it to me anymore. Having the ability to pause live TV (to use the restroom, take a phone call, play with your kids, etc.), do instant replays of sporting events or to catch that line in a movie that you missed, one-touch recordings, letting TiVo catch every episode without us having to lift a finger, listening to our MP3 collection on the home theater system (streaming from the computer upstairs), setting up my TiVo to record via the Internet from my office computer or when I'm on vacation, and so on ... all wrapped up in the ability to control TV instead of letting it control us. All this for $13 a month - a steal if you ask me.
