New Book: Organic Community

Posted by Chris

Just picked up a new book to read yesterday from my friend Craig. It's by Joseph R. Myers & is called Organic Community: Creating a Place Where People Naturally Connect. Myers wrote another outstanding book that I would highly recommend The Search to Belong: Rethinking Intimacy, Community, and Small Groups. Here's the back cover for Community:

"Can you create community through master plans and elaborate strategies? Sometimes, says Joseph Myers - but more often, lasting authentic connections occur organically within healthy environments. Organic Community offers you practical guidance for helping your church or organization create spaces where community naturally comes into being."

I'm excited about this book as I highly respect Myers and what he has to say after reading The Search to Belong and because bringing about community is what is at the very core of what we are doing with up/rooted & the young adults at Gladeville.

I'll post a review here as soon as I'm done. I've read about a third of it so far (while working out yesterday at the Y), so hopefully it won't take me more than a week or so to finish.
