One After Another

Well, we've had a sick couple of boys the past few days. It started with Josiah developing a cough and running a fever on Tuesday. We kept him home from school on Tuesday & Wednesday. It turns out he has bronchitis. We were hoping he would get back to school today (Thursday), but he's still hanging on to it. We'll give it another day & hopefully he'll be back on schedule tomorrow. I'm glad it's just Kindergarten. This opens my eyes to what it is going to be like one day when he misses school with an illness & we have to deal with contacting the school, arranging for homework, etc. Micah began to get sick last night in the middle of the night. We were up with him for about 45 minutes and Andrea is at the doctor with him right now. Hopefully his is just a 24 hour bug or something. This is usually how it happens at our house - we wind up passing along the illness from one person to another before it is all said & done. Sometimes the boys keep trading bugs back and forth. Hopefully that won't be the case this time around.
Josiah's been hanging out with me quite a bit over the past several days. We moved the Xbox from the youth room into my office so he can play for awhile while I work. He's definitely Daddy's boy when it comes to video games. As you can see from the picture above I've got a few game emulators on our computer at home. He really enjoys playing Super Mario Bros. Of course, Daddy has to get on every once and awhile to 'demonstrate' how to play. I got obsessed last week trying to win SMB myself (which as you can see I wound up doing after trying over several days). Every once an awhile Alec Hendryx, an old friend & one of our youth workers, comes over & we crack ourselves up playing games like Joust, Gauntlet, Galaga, etc. Right now we've got emulators for Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, Atari (anyone say space invaders!), and some arcade emulators. I still find these games more rewarding & fun to play than some of the newer, higher graphic (and priced) games out now. Best of all - they're free!
