One Month Later

Posted by Chris

Well, we've officially been here for a month (Andrea says it's four weeks ... I guess the 'official' month mark will be on the 20th) as of today. It seems like it has just flown by! I thought I would take a moment and look back over the past month and see what one month later looks like ... [Family]
Everyone is adjusting well to being in a new place (new house, new neighborhood, new town). There was a period of about 5-6 days after we had moved that Micah would say things like, "We've been here a long time. Let's get our truck and go back home." That lasted for about a week at the longest and then he was fine. The neighborhood we are in has a lot of families with younger children. Si mentioned to the hairdresser yesterday how he had made new friends & proceeded to name a few of the neighborhood kids, along with our friends Jeremie & Kelly's and Ryan & Carmel's kids.

One of the biggest adjustment we've had to make is me being 25 minutes away from home. This is quite a contrast to living next door to work for so long! In fact, I told Andrea that for 8 out of the 9 years that we have been married, we have either lived in or next door to my place of work. It's nice from that perspective to even work in a totally different town than we live in, but it's not nearly as convenient.

Andrea & I both desire to meet & make new friends soon. We will be joining a house church at the end of the month/beginning of July & that will help provide that community.

[Church]
Like I said, we haven't been able to be involved in a house church, yet. This has provided a nice break, though, and given us a little breathing room for a few weeks. We have thoroughly enjoyed Bridgeway on Sunday mornings. I get excited just thinking about Sunday coming around again! It's nice that God has wrapped up the church family we are to be involved with amongst the job/moving, etc. We've done the church 'shopping' things before (for lack of a better word) & don't miss that lengthy process at all.

[Job]
I am still getting adjusted to the new job, but enjoying what I have experienced to this point. We are in such a transition still with the direction that the business is headed that there are many things that haven't settled yet. Because of this it is hard to get a good reading on what my job is exactly going to wind up looking like six months from now. The best part of it so far has been the chances that I have had to meet & interact with people & help them with web site decisions. At its core it is sales/marketing, but it seems like a deeper mission than that. I know that Jason, my co-worker, has the same heart for helping/serving others as I do & that excites me. We'll see where God continues to lead this company!

[Life In General]
God is good (all the time)! I am still amazed by His grace and how He has chosen to bless our little family! I am excited, nervous & anxious all rolled into one, but I know that He is in control & that greater things await us in His future! I'm enjoying our life together right now, even with its little hiccups & adjustments. I'm enjoying all of the above simply because God is in it. He was ahead of it (and still is) and chose to lead us down this winding road. We might not be able to see what lies around the corner, but we're enjoying the ride!

Thank you all who have been praying for us in this transition time. It isn't over - keep lifting us up to Him. I know that you have played a grand role in the play that God has us in.
