Our 4th of July …
Posted by Chris
We just got back about an hour ago from our 4th of July trip to Independence. It was nice to see my Dad & Cheryl again & get to stay in their new house for the first time! We left Sunday morning & rolled up to the house around 2:00p or so. Spent the afternoon hanging out. The boys played throughout the house & outside (even though it was extremely hot) with their cousins. I helped my dad get his home theater system fully installed & mounted the speakers on the wall to finish things up.
After dinner & after it got dark we went out onto the deck to watch the fireworks display put on by both of our dads. Enjoyed it (even though I only got to see the fireworks through the camera lenses (see post below). Sat around & talked until late before turning in for the night. We spent a leisurely morning this morning before heading out of town around noon. All in all it was a nice trip. We'd like to return when we get a chance to stay more than one night.
Now we're hanging out at the house, picking up a little as we were in a bit of a rush trying to get out of here yesterday morning. I've got a writing assignment due each Friday beginning this week, so it looks like I'll be up for awhile trying to get the bulk of this week's writing done. Not to much different writing here than it was in Kansas ... the only difference being that I'm a lot more tired here b/c of still getting adjusted to my new job. By the time I get home at night Andrea & I are both pretty exhausted. I'll have to find the energy to write from somewhere. We'll see how it goes.
