(Somewhat) Normal Day #1

Posted by Chris

Andrea's downstairs cooking some brownies as I type this. These are no ordinary brownies. No, these are "been waiting a week to make them" kind of brownies. Our oven has been on the fritz for the past week & it just got fixed again today. So, of course, we are celebrating with the Making-o-the-Brownies ritual.

Today was probably the first somewhat normal day that we have had so far being here. Andrea got together with a friend of ours this morning with her kids & played together at the park. It was good for the kids to get out & good to be with friends. She also spent a little time (at the same time) with another friend who will most likely be our House Church pastor (with her husband). Andrea sang on the BSU Promotion Team with him when she & I met 11 years ago. We haven't really kept in contact with them, but have stayed acquainted through mutual friends. Another guy from the House Church dropped in as well. Andrea & I have been wanting to begin to meet people & make new friends, especially with those who go to Bridgeway. I had what will most likely be like a typical day for me on the job. I had four meetings, the first being from 7-8a this morning. This will be a recurring group of professionals that gets together at this time each week to share referrals. The last was right before I left for home & was with someone at Bridgeway. They are looking at redesigning their web site & want Multiply to help in the decision making process (and the redesign if that's what they ultimately decide to do). It felt good to meet with so many, interact with them & help them, & get to know some new people in the process.

Tonight we walked around our cul-de-sac with the kids (Emerie in her wagon) & met a few more of our neighbors down the road. I think we've met (between the two of us) nine neighbors (not including the gang of kids in the area) so far. It seems to be a very friendly neighborhood, with many having been in this area for many years already. This house/place is definitely a God-send that we are so thankful for.

One more day of work before the weekend. I'm not sure what our plans for Friday night are. We discussed several options, but I think we'll probably just wind up renting a movie & relaxing. Saturday we are getting Emerie's pictures done in Tulsa at a friend of my sisters & spending some time with them. The boys are so excited to get to see their cousins & hang out with them. We'll probably stay later into the evening & head home to put the kids in bed. Sunday will be our first day at Bridgeway. Jeremie, a friend of ours, is preaching & I've been helping him get some graphics created to use as backdrops for him. I'm excited to get to go to our new church home & experience it. No church Sunday night, so we'll either hang out as a family or invite one of the few groups that we've been looking for a chance to have over. Lots going on, but it's beginning to feel like home. Not nearly all the way, yet, but starting to, which is a nice feeling.
