There is No Right Time
Posted by Chris
Well, I finally convinced myself to sit down for a couple of minutes and post something. I’ve been wanting to all week. It’s not like our life has stopped - the contrary is actually true. It has been extremely busy since about a week ago. I just figure that there really is no right time to do this, so…
Here’s quick snapshot of the past week in the lives of the Ediger family (after the break)…
- We had our good friends Mark & Trish Davis in town last weekend with their three girls. Great time - good to spend some time with them. They took off Sunday morning.
- I got slammed with a web design project deadline at the same time Mark & Trish were arriving, which meant a lot of stress on my part & having to work somewhat late on Friday afternoon (although I was at least working at home). God was good and I was able to get things finished early evening and relax somewhat throughout the rest of the weekend.
- We left town after our Sunday morning young adults group and headed toward Kentucky. We stopped at Mammoth Cave National Park on the way - the largest underground cave system in the world. We toured one of the caves & then got back on the road heading to Louisville.
- We spent Monday at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom with the kids - redeeming tickets they had earned from reading books this summer. Good fun.
- We traveled home on Tuesday & stopped at several Lincoln tourist stops on the way home: Lincoln’s birthplace, his boyhood home at Knob Creek, and the Lincoln Museum in Hodgenville, KY.
- Back to work on Wednesday. Played the normal catch-up from being gone (why is it that it takes twice as much energy & work to get ready to leave for a few days/vacation and then twice as hard catching back up after being gone?).
- Left straight from work, picked up the boys (Emerie was running a slight fever), and headed to the church for the Gladeville Block Party. Again - lot of fun. Got a chance to hang out with our young adults while holding a Wii Sports Challenge (with $25 gas cards for prizes). Gave away a Wii as a grand prize at the end of the evening. Probably close to 1000 people there.
- Andrea wound up catching whatever Emerie had & spent the next couple of days fighting achiness
- Work again on Thursday. Accidentally deleted a crucial file from the Gladeville website while making minor updates during my lunch hour. The website crashed as a result. Spent a few hours after work getting everything back up again.
- Got the kids up a little early this morning & took them with me to work. It was LifeWay’s ‘bring your kid to work’ day & the VBS 2008 preview event that they do each year. Josiah had the fever this time, so he was very disappointed about having to stay home.
So, here I am - about to sit down & veg with my lovely wife in front of the TV watching a movie. We have a slow weekend ahead, which is most welcome after the past week. Hopefully I can get back into some kind of posting rhythm here again.
