Weigh-In Time
Posted by Chris
It's Friday again! I have to say that this week felt more difficult than usual to keep on task with my weight loss. With Lisa & the boys being here we were less strict with what we ate - not that we were eating incredibly unhealthy food, or anything, just that we weren't fixing our normal "this is a lowfat meal that I know how many points it's worth" kind of stuff.
To compensate I worked out everyday at the Y except for yesterday. By the time Thursday rolled around I felt pretty exhausted with the prospect of heading over to the Y again during lunch and my tired legs (from running on the treadmill) didn't seem to be too excited as well. So, I took a day off from working out (which was good since I had a lunch meeting I had forgotten about anyhow). The boys have soccer practice at the Y tonight, so I'll probably do a lighter workout as we have somewhere to go right after practices. Craig & I make good exercise-accountability partners. Seems like one of us is ready to hit the gym when the other one is more likely to skip a day. I don't want to fall into a 'run everyday' routine - not, at least, until I am in better shape. I'd like to run on Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays & get back to my weight lifting routine on Tuesdays/Thursdays.
Honestly, if it hadn't been for us eating a little off this week I probably wouldn't have worked out as much as I did. Figured I could use all the help I could get. And it worked...
Weighed in today at 197 lbs. That puts me at 13 lbs. thus far (6 weeks) and right at halfway to my goal of approx. 184.
I'm starting to tell a real difference in my face & the way my clothes fit (I'm going to have to buy some new clothes in another month or so as some of mine are becoming too big).
On a side, but related, note: I was interviewed recently for LifeWay's Facts & Trends magazine which goes out to churches across America. They wanted to know how we were using the new Threads studies (the young adult studies/line that I work with at LW) at Gladeville with our group of young adults. They needed a photo for the article and I sheepishly asked if they wouldn't mind taking a new one instead of using my pre-weight loss, 210 lbs (possibly more) photo that I had taken as part of our Threads shoot a couple of months ago. They said that was fine, so now I get some new pictures taken (by a professional, nonetheless) next week. Of course, I'll probably jump onto another one of our Threads photoshoots for upcoming products once this whole thing is done so I can get an accurate "after" photo to go along with my "before" one from earlier this year. :-)
